Print Day In May: In conjunction with this exhibit, the DCA will be participating in Print Day in May, an international print-a-thon held annually since 2007 in which people from all over the globe make a print and post the results on line. www.printdayinmay.com. Join us for this event held during our opening reception. Free and open to all ages. Please share your work and help spread the word through Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtag #printdayinmay2019.

Juried Exhibit: The artwork in this segment of the exhibit incorporates traditional and contemporary prints chosen by juror Pamela DeLaura, who also selected the award winners.

Proof: From Process to Print Screens, stones, plates & blocks! The “how” of printmaking and the tools needed to make a print are on display as invited artists show their work and the matrix used to make a print.

Call for entries

The Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) is currently accepting 2D and 3D entries for PROOF: A Print Exhibit. Open to artists 18 years and older producing work in both traditional and contemporary print media, including but not limited to relief, etching, lithography, screenprint, and monoprint. Mixed media, experimental and conceptual works are also welcome but must consist primarily of a hand-pulled printmaking media as part of the process. No commercially reproduced prints, glicee, or digital prints accepted. JURYING BY ONLINE ENTRIES ONLY.

Exhibition Dates: May 4-May 22, 2019

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 4, 5-9 pm

On-line Entry Deadline: Friday, April 5, midnight EST

Email Notification of Juried Results: Wednesday April 10, no later than 5 pm

Accepted Work Delivery Date

-Hand delivered: Saturday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 30, during regular office hours.

-Shipping: Plan on shipping work to arrive Tuesday April 23-Thursday, April 25

About the Juror: Pamela Delaura earned a MFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University. She currently serves as Associate Professor in Printmaking for Wayne State University in Detroit where she has taught for over 30 years. Professor Delaura is interested in all areas of printmaking (lithography, intaglio, serigraphy, relief, monotype) as well as drawing in mixed media. Her work often reflects the complex role of motherhood.
