Community Supporters

cultural Partners

Something remarkable happens when you support creative people. New ideas are born and positive changes in our neighborhoods can happen. The Downriver Council for the Arts creates regional partnerships with other cultural organizations, schools and service clubs to promote artistic, cultural and special events throughout Southeast Michigan. These organizations have joined the Downriver Council for the Arts to form a network of cultural inspiration. Let’s celebrate our collective story!

Business Partners

These companies support arts and culture as a necessary part of our every day. These memberships help to provide the DCA with the on-going revenue to support our mission to inspire participation, passion, and support for arts and culture in the Downriver area.

Announcing CREATIVE ART SOCIETY, 501 C6 nonprofit organization, a consolidation of two active art groups – Downriver Arts & Crafts Guild and Art Ambience. Blending these groups will mean members will have more display opportunities and workshops. We promote and serve artists of all mediums and we celebrate all levels of art. Creative Art Society will still present the largest juried art show Downriver – the Fall Festival of the Arts ( October 4th – October 17th) with over 60 Michigan artists participating in this large show. And Creative Art Society will also continue to present the largest juried Spring show, Art Ambience, which highlights Downriver residents. Both of these shows have attracted artists for over 15 years and 32 years respectively.

Our Creative Art Society’s free kickoff meeting will be Tuesday September 10th at Southgate Veterans Memorial Library 14680 Dix-Toledo Hwy. Following our 6:30 business meeting and announcements of classes we will have an art demonstration by pastel artist Gretchen Vandenberghe. You will be able to observe Ms. Vandenberghe working in pastels or for a small donation ($15.) she will give you all materials and direct you in finishing 2 pastel works of art.

Please come and enjoy an evening exchanging ideas and information about new art venues and gallery openings. If you have ever wanted to start taking art classes or find out which classes are available – then join us. Where else can you enjoy a social evening of interesting art demonstrations with your local art community? There is something for everyone with a Creative Art Society membership. Whether you are a new or an experienced artist, news of innovative techniques, classes and workshops will give you ideas of what you can create next…THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW TO LEARN!
