Dear singers and friends,

My name is Peyton E. Fleming, and I am the Artistic Director of the newly formed Downriver Master Chorale! We need YOU and your friends to join us for our inaugural season and help bring the tradition of exquisite, excellent, heart-warming, and spirit of rich choral music traditions from around the world to the Downriver area! We have partnered with the Downriver Council for the Arts to help bring you, your families, this community, and all those around us an inclusive and expansive culture of the performing arts.

  • Are you someone who sang in high school/college and have been craving musical expression? We want YOU!

  • Are you looking to be part of a high-performing, professional style ensemble that depends on your sound? We want YOU!

  • Are you someone who is shy, introverted, or looking to be a more confident singer? We want YOU!

  • Are you looking for an outlet for musical creation and expression after your daily life, work, and other struggles of today? We want YOU!

  • Are you a beautiful and good person? I’ll just go ahead and answer for you. Yes! WE WANT YOU!

Inspiration for the DMC…

To all my Downriver friends, the DMC has a vision of creating a choral community that will serve the Downriver area with the choral music traditions of the world, right here in your backyard. It’s always wonderful to hear of rich traditions, however downtown Detroit, Northern Detroit, Ann Arbor and Toledo are just too far for some people to enjoy an evening concert of beautifully crafted music. My goal as Artistic Director is to bring you all together to create a community of singers that have longed to participate in music after college/high school and haven’t had the opportunity due to location, job opportunity, and other inconveniences in life. The Downriver area is a community thriving with work ethic, spirit, dedication and loyalty, and I want to unify and capture all of that in a time capsule on stage, and present it in the form of beautiful energy and crafted sound!

Peyton E. Fleming, MM is a native of Gooding, ID. He holds advanced degrees in conducting including a Master of Music – Choral Conducting from Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Voice Performance from The College of Idaho (Caldwell, ID). Under the mentorship of Dr. Deanna Joseph at GSU, Peyton led choirs at the University, became Assistant Conductor and Chorusmaster for the GSU Opera Theater for productions of Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi (G. Puccini) and Carmen (G. Bizet), held the position of Choral Scholar at Holy Trinity Parish (Decatur, GA), and performed professionally with the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra and the Atlanta Festival Consort. During the 2023-2024 season, Mr. Fleming was welcomed into one of the top choral ensembles in the country, Atlanta Master Chorale under the direction of Dr. Eric Nelson, as a countertenor and utility voice, a crowning jewel for vocal artists in Atlanta. Previously he also performed with Opera Idaho, Critical Mass Vocal Artists (Boise, ID) and studied previously with Dr. Brent Wells and Dr. Grant Farmer. A true Renaissance man, Peyton brings an exceptionally well-rounded vision to the choral art, seeking vocal freedom and agility, mastery of diction, technical and detailed excellence, and giving beautiful life to choral music of the forgotten and historically underrepresented.
