Admission is free and the public is invited. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Homegrown Poetry’, which is the title of our recently published Group Anthology. We’ll feature poetry written by our local writers and group members.
Come join us for a Night of Poetry at our annual National Poetry Month Celebration on Wednesday April 8th at the Downriver Council for the ARTS building, located at 81 Chestnut Street in Wyandotte Michigan at 5:30 pm. This Poetry Reading is FREE and open to the Public. This program is hosted by the DOWNRIVER POETS & PLAYWRIGHTS writing group which has been meeting since the mid 1980’s. Our writers are from many Downriver Communities. The theme for this year’s event is ‘HOMEGROWN POETRY’ which is the title of our recently published Group Anthology. It highlights the book and our many talented Poets and writers who are members of DP&P. The book is dedicated to the former leader of the group, Mono D’Angelo, Poet, Novelist, Painter and a generous encourager of the Arts. Over the years we have shared poems from famous men and women poets and shared some of our own work too, in our April presentations, this year will be exclusively poetry that has been written by our local writers and group members who are very creative and committed to grow in their writing skills. You will hear many voices and perspectives shared, and it should prove to be a very interesting and entertaining evening. Please consider joining us and bring a friend or two ! Light refreshments will be provided and a Poetry book table will be onsite.
