Old Blue Vase
Gretchen Vandenberghe | Old Blue Vase | Colored Pencil | 23x20 (includes mat and frame with non-glare glass) |$225
"This piece was created in my "Comfort Zone", in my sanctuary where I pay attention to what makes me feel open-hearted and alive. This is a place where I am able create with a feeling of well being and warmth, content and at peace with my surroundings. Colored pencil is a slow art form and helps me to focus all energy without worry of the final product but more about enjoying the process."
Gretchen Vandenberghe is an artist/instructor, Registered Nurse, Reiki Practitioner who holds a BA in Art History. Combining her background in healthcare and the arts, she is dedicated to raising awareness about how art can enhance the wellbeing of individuals as well as community.

The Zone
Linda Allen | The Zone | mixed-installation | POR
Fifty years ago when she was in high school artist Linda Allen had a dream to one day create a mixed media installation. Finally her dream is a reality at Downriver Council for the Arts. “The Zone,” is an installation of painted canvases, collages, assemblages and sculptures. The subject matter is a little bit of a walk on the wild side where she explores sexual tension in a fun and playful way. Linda has been greatly influenced by artist Robert Rauschenberg who was known for his “combines” in which non-traditional materials and objects were employed in various combinations. Allen goes for various and hilarious!
Her art is created with the following eclectic materials: acrylic, oil and watercolor paints often combined with fabric, paper, or drawings. Collages and art pieces express imagery of an urban experience. She enjoys creating art that is amusing and intriguing. She has taught art workshops and is a member of the Michigan Water Color Society, the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, and Scarab Club.
Formerly Allen was an Interior Designer at Contract Interiors and worked in that profession after receiving her BS degree at Wayne State University. After 15 years in that field she returned to her first love, art! The practice of art making has been a source of joy and fulfillment for her since it was introduced into her life in middle school. She finally found her niche. Her world has become full of color, texture and light ever since.
