$10 a month. A year of art that matters.

What if supporting the arts was as simple as $10 a month?

That’s two cups of coffee. One movie ticket you never quite got around to using. And for the Downriver Council for the Arts, it’s something much bigger.

A monthly $10 donation helps keep exhibitions on our walls, classes in our studios, and creative opportunities accessible right here in our community. When many people give a little, the impact adds up quickly and beautifully. Monthly giving is one of the most powerful ways to support DCA because it:

• Provides steady funding we can plan around

• Keeps programs affordable and inclusive

• Strengthens arts access in Downriver all year long

Setting up an automatic $10/month gift takes just a minute, and once it’s done, you’re supporting the arts all year without having to think twice.

If the arts have ever inspired you, challenged you, or made you feel more at home in this community, this is a simple way to give that feeling to someone else.

Thank you for being part of what makes Downriver creative.

Partnerships

At the Downriver Council for the Arts, we believe collaboration is the key to uplifting and enriching our community. Cross-sector partnerships not only increase accessibility and equity in the arts but also strengthen the cultural fabric of our region. Our approach prioritizes inclusivity, inviting diverse ideas and perspectives to shape Downriver’s artistic landscape.

Performing Arts

The Downriver Council for the Arts is passionate about enriching our community through the performing arts, offering opportunities for individuals of all ages to enjoy and participate in the cultural vibrancy of our region.

We celebrate the diversity of performance by creating a space for local musicians, actors, dancers, and other performers to showcase their talents. Our events are designed to be inclusive, providing an environment where the community can come together to experience art that fosters connection, emotional depth, and personal growth. Each performance offers more than just entertainment; it’s an opportunity to be part of something larger, to share in the joy of art and creativity.

Community Engagement

The Downriver Council for the Arts is committed to bringing art directly to our community, using creative methods to engage our neighborhoods in cultural activities. Through partnerships with cultural organizations, schools, and service clubs, we promote art and cultural events across Southeast Michigan. These initiatives take place in our Arts Center and in the various cities we serve, creating opportunities for everyone to experience the arts.

Arts and Wellness

At the Downriver Council for the Arts, we harness the healing power of creativity to support mental and physical well-being. Our arts and wellness programs are designed to merge artistic expression with practices that nurture resilience, strength, and peace.

Recognized by Americans for the Arts as a leading example of how creativity supports mental wellness, our work highlights the vital role of the arts in fostering a healthier community.

Adult Programming

At the Downriver Council for the Arts, we are a creative destination for adults who want to explore their artistic side, develop new skills, and connect with others in our dynamic community. Our diverse range of adult programs offers something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist. Our instructors are local artists and educators with exceptional teaching skills and a passion for sharing their craft.  Beyond being an arts center, we are a place where people come together, form lasting friendships, and share a collective sense of purpose. Our programs are designed to be accessible and inclusive, serving individuals with diverse needs, including those with mental health challenges or different abilities.

Youth and Family Programming

The Downriver Council for the Arts offers programs that ignite creativity and foster personal growth, providing a space to learn, connect, and express oneself. These programs do more than teach art—they help build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Young participants can explore a variety of art forms, including painting, sculpture, and drawing, as well as anime and character design. Families are invited to join in workshops and community events, and teens can develop friendships and creative partnerships.

Visual Arts

Visual arts have a unique ability to bring people together, transcending cultural, generational, and personal boundaries. At the Downriver Council for the Arts, we are honored to provide a diverse range of visual arts programming that encourages the community to explore creativity, develop skills, and express themselves.
