Call for entries - Summer of Lovin the DCA
The Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) is currently accepting entries for consideration in the Summer of Loving the DCA art exhibition. The 1960s was an era of social upheaval and civil unrest for many young people who questioned, disapproved and sought change to the conventional American culture, values, morals and civic duties of their time. The historical Summer of Love took place in 1967 San Francisco, CA, in and around the area of Haight and Ashbury Streets. Thousands of young people, many of whom were artists, poets and musicians, converged on Haight/Ashbury to come in to their own right. The Summer of Love was a celebration of life, love, and freedom, with art and music playing key roles. “Summer of Loving the DCA” is a reflection of that spirit. Please keep in mind the DCA is a family friendly environment so the exhibit curator reserves the right to deny work that deems inappropriate. Think peace, love, harmony, humanity, flower power, music and psychedelic art. There will be a designated area for blacklight art and posters.
Reception: Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 6pm-9pm
Exhibit Run: July 27 - August 11, 2018
