Monthly open drawing and painting live model sessions in the Gallery

Artists are invited to join us in-person in the gallery for sketching, drawing, painting and rendering from a live clothed model. Open to artists of all skill levels, these sessions are self-guided and intended to provide time and space for members of our local community to share in this art practice. Participants must supply their own rendering materials.

Thursdays from 5:30pm - 8:00pm (We’ve added a few Tuesday dates!)

Model ready at 6pm

Ages 14 and up

Cost per session:  $5 for DCA Members, $10 for non-members. Payable on day of session. Free for students ages 14-22. 

  • 4 five-minute poses for a quick warm up.

  • 10 minute break.

  • 60 minute pose (with breaks every 20-30 minutes).

Provided on a first-come, first-served basis: Drawing Horses, tables, easels, outlets for electronics

2023 Scheduled Sessions: 1/26, 2/16, 3/14 (Tue), 3/30, 4/11(Tue), 4/27, 5/9 (Tue), 5/25, 6/29, 7/27, 9/21, 10/19, 11/16

Due to lack of participation, we are cancelling Tuesday sessions. No session 4/11 or 5/9.


Art Models:  If you have experience modeling for artists, we would love to hear from you. Experience isn’t necessary, but if you have never sat for a session before, we would need you to come to a session and watch how it’s done. This is a paid opportunity. 


Fine print:

It is the guardian’s/student’s responsibility to stay home if you are sick. If you have a fever, stay home. If someone in your house is sick, stay home. If you have allergies and can’t control sneezing, and cough please stay home. If you have been exposed or if you show signs of Covid-19, please stay home. If you miss a class, we will work with you on getting the instructions home to students, or possibly have an online option. If class is cancelled by the DCA or Executive Orders, we will refund your remaining classes.

Social distancing and facemasks are encouraged at the present time of publishing this event, however could be required if executive orders mandate them. Hand sanitizer is available for immediate use at the front entrance and entrance into each of our common areas. Parents please drop off and pick up your children outside when possible.

All students will be requested to use hand sanitizer as they enter the classroom common area. Please wash hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds after touching metal surfaces, sneezing, coughing, blowing your nose or using the restroom. In the case of being diagnosed with Covid-19 or show symptoms, immediately notify the DCA by email at dc4arts@downriverarts.org.
